Uno’s Corner: March, 2013

My Friend Sasha

We don’t always appreciate what we have, that’s for sure! However, ONE thing I am phenomenally grateful for is the love I receive at Good Hope and being blessed with my Fur-Ever home. These humanoid Good Hopians feed me, bathe me, pet me, scratch “My Spot”, love me unconditionally and care for all of my veterinary needs. Many animals are less fortunate! I enjoy my tasks at Good Hope (mostly my cat naps on idle chairs) but a favorite job is being friend and confidante to my fuzzy friends. I enjoy helping my Good Hope “people” finding homes for some of the less fortunate souls. That said, I currently have a feline friend in need of a home. Is anyone willing to help?

Sasha is a 7-year-old feline who when I first met her was not feeling that fantabulous! She came to Good Hope with 6 bladder stones. Unfortunately, her owner just could not bear the expense required to make Sasha better. The kind-hearted veterinarians and my Good Hope people could not stand the thought of Sasha not getting the medical treatment/care she needed, so they helped nurse her back to health. Now, she is free of bladder stones, after they have all been dissolved with a special diet. Her only current issue is that she is 18 ½ pounds and more to love than she should be for a healthy kitty. She is on a special Hill’s metabolic diet and will need to be maintained on this diet until she loses approximately 5-6 lbs. and reaches her goal weight. Sasha’s new owner must be willing to take her dietary needs seriously and help her obtain a new slim/trim physique.

Sasha would be happiest in a home with no more than 2 other cats, as she requires her fair share of attention. She enjoys the canine species but only if they pose her no threat and are non-aggressive towards felines. She is up-to-date on her Rabies and Distemper vaccines and is very healthy other than her few extra pounds. She is somewhat vocal, enjoys playing with her feather toy, and of course enjoys lots of love and attention. (But WHO the heck doesn’t?) She is a domestic short hair tabby with brown, fawn, gray, and white colorings, and she has big beautiful amber-colored eyes! I think she is a stunner and am quite jealous of her beautiful features!

Over the past months, we have become great pals. She states she is really ready to find her fur-ever home! If you are interested OR if you have a friend who is looking for a fuzzy, sweet (not so little) addition to your home, please contact Heather at Good Hope Animal Hospital at 717-766-5535 ext# 105 and we can give you more details.

Thank you for tuning in to “Uno’s Corner”! Until the next time, I hope you and your fur kids stay healthy and tail-waggingly happy!

Happy New Year friends! I hope that 2013 is treating everyone very well! Meowwwwserrrs!!!!

I am working on my New Year’s resolution. Yes, I am. Any guesses? C’mon, you know you want to know. Okay, here goes……………………… eat less. There, I said it. They say that if you admit you have a problem that is half the battle, right? Well, I am going to definitely eat less. Don’t you dare laugh! You will see! (I think daddy has given me a weight complex – DARN vets!!!!!) How could he even presume to offend me with regards to my weight? Hasn’t he been informed of my title by now? The Queen, highest of ALL, HRH, (Her Royal Heighness), the Stuff? I just don’t get it?? (I am shaking my beautiful one-eyed head).

Okay, I must get back to my duties now and I strongly foresee a nap in my very near future. I am so happy and thankful to have all of you as my friends and I look forward to all of the many great visits I will have this year with all of you! I gotta keep working on getting in shape so I have the energy it takes to be a great GHAH mascot. Please be sure to watch for my progress as the “incredibly shrinking Uno”. And…..if you see my daddy, tell him to get off my back about my weight.

Until next time…………………………….

Uno’s Corner: December, 2012

Hello to all of my 2 and 4-legged friends! It is your favorite one-eyed wonder and Good Hope Animal Hospital mascot, Uno.

I hope this note finds all of you happy and healthy and that everyone had their check-ups with a clean bill of health in 2012. I also wanted to remind everyone that it’s that time of the year so be extra good so Santa brings you that special treat you have been wanting! Whether a tuna-flavored tidbit, some peanut-buttery goodness, or a long-awaited new toy, I am sure that it will be well deserved and enjoyed! Just a tip: I have learned that by really, really trying to look cute, giving out extra loving’s to everyone, or not getting mad or complaining when I get my ears cleaned or my bath seems to convince everyone that I have been a really good girl.

Boy, 2012 has been a great year! I have been keeping very busy spreading love and good cheer to all of our patients and greeting clients. I LOVE my job! I still do a lot of looking at the inside of my eyelids (or in my case, eyelid) but HEY, I AM A CAT. Cats NAP!!! The Good Hope Girls tell me my stocking will surely be filled this year with tons of tasty treats! I really hope they are right! I did just overhear my daddy telling someone that I am a tad fluffier than I really should be. Hey, I tell people it just means there is more of me to love. However, try to convince your dad this when he is a veterinarian! Not so easy!!! *Sigh!*

On behalf of moi and EVERYONE here at GHAH we want to wish you a very Meowwwwwy Christmas and a Purrrrrfect New Year! We hope that all of your holiday wishes come true! But just remember, I will be keeping my EYE on you! Hee Hee!
